Support for metadata management of research data

Expert Methodological Unit

The Expert Methodological Unit for Supporting Metadata Management of Research Data (also referred to as the Metadata Unit) operates as part of the Centre for Repositories and Metadata Management. Its mission is to serve as the primary consultation point for the RDI community (Research, Development, and Innovation; VaVaI in Czech) in the field of metadata management for research data.

The Metadata Unit consists of a team of experts who collect and organize knowledge on metadata schemas and formats, their application in general and domain-specific repositories, principles of digital curation, and ensuring interoperability between repositories and other systems.

Our Services — What You Can Contact Us About:

  • General inquiries regarding the metadata description of research data (and, where relevant, documents);
  • Consultations on the selection or adaptation of suitable metadata schemas for repositories;
  • Consultations regarding import and export exchange formats;
  • Consultations on digital curation processes.

Our team also collaborates closely with colleagues involved in the complementary EOSC-CZ project, particularly in the development of the National Metadata Directory (NMA). You can therefore contact us with questions related to interoperability with the NMA as well.

Our Additional Tasks:

An important area within metadata management of research data is the use of persistent identifiers. If you are interested in this topic, please visit www.identifikatory.cz/en/.

The activities of the Metadata Unit are part of the CARDS project.
